French Braid Instructions

    French Braiding Instructions

French braiding instructions are very easy to follow, if you keep the following tips in mind. You need to read them carefully from start to end without skipping any part. Before you begin with your French braid instructions, it is wise to relax and sit down, as it will take time for you to get the hang of it. You need to pull the braids tight against your head, as loose braids will lead to strands of hair flying about giving you an unkempt, messy look.

How to French Braid Your Own Hair?
    • You need to first comb your hair to make it knot and tangle free. Then divide the hair into three small sections from the crown of the head.
    • Each section should be combed, holding the right hand section in the left hand and middle section between thumb and any other finger of either hand and the left section in the left hand.
    • Now cross the right hand section over the middle section and then the left section over the middle section. Remember to smooth down your hair as you go further. (The right hand section now becomes the middle section after crossing over and so on.)
    • Make sure you pull the braids tight as loose sections will quickly come undone.
    • Now before you move on further, gather some additional hair from the right side of your head and cross this portion to the middle section of your braid.
    • After one or two braids, gather some additional hair from the left side of your head and add it to the left section. Cross the left section with the middle section.
    • Keep repeating the above steps till you gather all additional hair strands till the nape of your head. You can complete the look by normally braiding the left over hair below the nape.
    • Once you reach the end of your braid, secure the hair with a tight hair band.
    • You can even accessorize your French braid with some dazzling hair accessories like hair pins and embellishments.
These were some French braid instructions to French braid your own hair. You can even try French braid instructions to French braid the hair of your daughter, sister or even a friend. Just follow the simple French braid instructions given below in how to french braid hair.

How to French Braid Hair for Someone Else?
    • The French braid instructions when combing others hair is more or less same as that when you French braid your own hair.
    • Ask the person to sit down and slightly dampen the hair. Now comb through the hair to remove all knots and tangles in hair.
    • Take a small section of hair from the front center and pull it backwards. Separate the section into three parts and hold right section in your right hand, the left in your left hand and the middle section between the thumb and finger of either hand you are comfortable with.
    • Now cross the right hand section over the middle section and then the left section over the middle section. (The right hand section now becomes the middle section after crossing over and so on.)
    • Then after one or two braids in a similar way, gather some additional hair sections from each side as you slide further down. Make sure you gather equal number of strands from each side or the French braid will look lopsided.
    • Make sure you pull the hair strands tightly, but not too tightly that the person feels pain. If the braids are too loose, they become undone soon.
    • After reaching the end of the hair line at the nape, continue to braid the hair, as you would normally do. Once you reach the end of the hair, secure the French braid with a hair band.
